The three most significant economic indicators have been shown here in other occasions. The three economic indicators derive from the Consumer Sentiment Index (ISC) that compares R’s perceptions about his personal economic situation (Optimism, IO) and that of

Spain

(Evaluation of the Economic Situation, IESE) at present, in the past and in the immediate future. It seems evident that the three indicator show a very persistent pattern, in the sense that the Personal Economic Situation (IO) is the one that gets the best evaluation, while the National Economic Situation (IESE) is usually the one that gets the worst evaluation (with the exception of the period 1997-2000, when the contrary was true, due to the fact that the improvement of the national economy took place before than household economies). The three economic indicators fell between 2000 and 2004, when they experienced a slight improvement, but they started to fall immediately afterwards, and more recently because of the economic crisis they are at the same level than before the 2004 elections and also at a similar level than in 1995, very much below the equilibrium level, suggesting that the unsatisfied and pessimists clearly predominate over the satisfied and optimist ones.
